Invitation to Lunchtime Lecture on 16 October: "Can impact investing change the world?" – Dr Peter Hinton, University of Oxford

Can capital do more than generate returns – and genuinely benefit people and the planet? We warmly invite you to a lunchtime lecture with a guest from Oxford:

Can impact investing change the world?
Dr Peter Hinton, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford

Friday, 16 October 2026, 12:30–13:30
Building D, Room D138

Peter Hinton draws on more than 20 years of experience in private equity, development finance, fair trade and impact investing. At Saïd Business School he teaches on the Oxford Impact Investment Programme. In his lecture he considers what impact investing can contribute to people and planet.

Drawing on history and case studies from Africa and around the world, he will look at the challenges and opportunities – and ask how finance with purpose can stay relevant in an AI world.

The lecture will be held in English. Questions and discussion are very welcome.

Want to hear more? On Sunday, 18 October, at 6 pm, Peter Hinton will speak at the Magnuskirche Worms (Dechaneigasse 3) on how merchant networks carried Tyndale's New Testament – printed in Worms in 1526 – to England, and what business networks can do for social change today. The evening lecture is part of the "Made in Worms" exhibition programme at the Museum Andreasstift. Admission is free, and a German translation will be provided.

We look forward to seeing you!
